Ananda is a startup collective based in Vancouver, located on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ / sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. They aim to offer healing experiences that nurture the mind, body, and soul, infused with joy and traditional wisdom. By partnering with artists, healers, and wisdom-keepers, Ananda makes sacred knowledge accessible to a broader audience, promoting self-love, community connection, and harmony with Mother Earth.
I developed Ananda's visual identity, starting with transforming Ravi-Shay's vision into tangible elements. The initial focus was on the website to raise brand awareness, promote care kits, and encourage email sign-ups. The visual identity evokes safety, security, and comfort while highlighting Ananda's connection to holistic care.
Without physical products, we effectively conveyed the concept using simple line-art illustrations of the care kit items. Joyful and inclusive imagery helped create an emotional connection with the audience, resulting in a visually dynamic suite for the web, communications, and social media
We established a cohesive brand with logos, a colour palette, illustrations, typography, and imagery. This foundation supported the launch of Ananda's first product, the Breath Wheel Journal. This 192-page book integrates ancient Indigenous and yogic healing wisdom, offering dotted pages for journaling, games, poems, and self-reflection activities. I worked on the two-color layout, infographics, and web page and created mockups for the journal cover and interior.
Seeing the elements of Ananda's visual identity come together was key to kick-starting the journey. Understanding the target audience and competition and clearly defining values, mission, and goals significantly enhanced the design's impact. This strategic approach ensured a focused and cohesive brand identity.
